"Becoming Marlene Dietrich" all set for its release on Oct 6th @ Chelsea Table + Stage!

Hello friends,

I hope you enjoyed a wonderful Labor Day weekend and that September is off to a great start. I’m so excited to announce that my album “Becoming Marlene Dietrich” is officially “in the can.”

After quite an intense few months, working on every single detail of this precious little one, it feels so rewarding to have sent the recording out for print, officially releasing it from my hands and into providence’s power. Huge sigh of relief!

First and foremost, I have to say it has been an amazing ride. A wild one, certainly, but oh so gratifying. It had been a long time since my last studio venture and my memory of the immense amount of work that goes into recording an album was distant, to say the least. It can absolutely be confirmed there’s quite A LOT of work that goes into such an endeavor! But whew! I’m so grateful to have been so expertly surrounded through every single aspect of this process. Truly, I couldn’t have asked for a better team.

Since the very beginning of its conception, as the project was merely an embryo, I’ve had considerable help. Whether it be through guidance, brainstorming, or encouragement as I was playing around with the very notion of this show, or through the crafting of beautiful and compelling musical arrangements that would in turn be adapted by each wonderful musician who brought them to life in their own unique and special way. I was assisted by master recording engineer Amadis Dunkle, who’s patience and dedicated hard work helped bring my conceptualization of an artistic vision turned into an equivocal visage of a singular identity. I have had the absolute best acolytes, every step of the way. I am truly thankful to these precious artists: Hyuna Park, Elias Bailey, Alex Raderman, and Linus Wyrsch who have been working under tight timeframes, all the while being attentive and sensitive to every detail, and lending their time, talent and energy to this project’s fruition.

The results, we hope, will enchant you. Perhaps you’ll recognize a few songs, or discover new ones. Perhaps you’ll learn a thing or two about Marlene Dietrich. Perhaps it will inspire you and compel you into celebrating the indomitable spirit of a woman far more ahead of her time, a symbol of anti-fascism and sexual freedom, and a tantalizing icon of beauty, undeniable elegance and absolute pizzazz. I certainly hope it will.
